Euddán burned through Foundation as he slashed with Stone Defender. The weight of the armor dragged at his weary body. He was running out of his reserves of power. And he needed it as he fought against the slimy appendages.

He cut one in half, the severed end slamming into his breastplate and sliding down to his feet. He grimaced at the foul scent of its slime and swung his sword again. Blue blood splashed across his helm and through the visor. He blinked the nasty stuff out of his right eye, his vision blurring.

Zai flowed up beside him and stabbed the blood spear into another appendage. It rippled back in pain, blue fluids spurting. She panted, sweat rolling down her dirty face from her tangled, blonde hair.

“Go right!” she shouted.

He dodged to the right as a tentacle he hadn’t noticed slammed down where he had stood. It hit the ground with a thud then swept at him. He cut the tentacle in half, flaring Foundation to drive his sword through the squishy, rubbery mass. The severed end slapped into his legs but didn’t trip him.

A roar burst from the water. More of the bulk rose above the boiling surface. A massive, fleshy blob with a hundred or more lashing tentacles. They ripped through willorms to get to their prey. The thing itself horrified Euddán.

He could see eyes dotting every bit of the thing. They were all open, blinking, all different. Human eyes. Equine. Feline. The compound eyes of an insect. It was a thousand or more creatures all fused into one monstrosity.

Lunar Nodal Energy bled from it. Euddán had the sick idea that it wanted to incorporate him and his friends into its blubbery mass. Bile burned at the back of his throat. He would never let that happen. He would stand up to this monstrous thing and defeat it.

He slashed his sword into the next appendage, almost out of Foundation.
